A Loop

…round

and               round

forever                          a loop

Poetry                 in motion

words circling…

Just a short poem I jotted a while ago in response to a prompt of “a loop.”

The poem has no beginning and no end, the last line runs into the first.
Also, if you read the lines in a loop (either clockwise or anti-clockwise) it makes two new poems with the same theme.

What can I say?  I had too much time on my hands I guess.

Look at me, I’m number three.

Okay, so it is not a big deal, but I got some exciting news today.  Science Fiction and Fantasy South Africa. Just announced the winners of their annual Nova Short Story contest, and guess who came third in the General Category.

I’ll give you a clue.

It was me.

🙂

I wonder if real writers who actually win stuff are as excited as I am right now?

Flash Fiction – Threshold

His door; so familiar to her. She knocked, and waited, examining this side for the first time. No surprise on his face as he opened the door, only a question she was suddenly unable to answer. After an age, he nodded and turned away. She followed, through their door.
Again.

Biblios Hokku – Revelation

And now, the end is near…

Revelation (note, no “s”) is the final book in the Bible, and also the final piece of Biblios Hokku.  I’ve enjoyed the process, and I hope you have as well.  Read the complete series here, or click on the title below to find our more about this chapter.

REVELATION
Apocalypse now!
Through strife and judgment,
we win in the end!

Hey Jude…..

Okay, jokes over.  Back to work.

JUDE

Your freedom is not to sin,
but to live in Grace.

Biblios Hokku – John, John and John

I once heard a joke about a seminary where there were four toilets, one with a broken door.  They were labelled 1 John, 2 John, 3 John and Revelation.

I didn’t say it was a very good joke, but that’s okay, because I never said these were very good haiku either.

1 JOHN
The real Word of life,
gives us a command of love,
and frees us from sin.

2 JOHN
The secret of love?
Walk after His commandments,
and you shall know Him!

3 JOHN
Walk in truth, children.
Imitate good, not evil.
For this is of God.

As always, you can read the whole Bible here, or click on one of the books to learn more about the theology of the poem.

Stumble

I went out in my yard today,
and there I stumbled at a straw.
I hope someone picks it up,
so I don’t stumble any more.
