Have you ever tried to explain writing to a non-writer?
It is not as easy as you might think. They just don’t understand our
insanity charm. Which is part of the reason why I find a writing group so helpful, even if no writing ever actually happens.
Because there are some conversations that you can only have with someone else who has ever tried to write; conversations like “Have your characters taken over your novel yet?” or “How do you kill someone and not cry?” and trying to explain how important coffee is to the writing process??? Forget about it.
Literary-Muggles just don’t get it.
So I love NaNoWriMo time of year. Because when I go onto the NaNoWriMo forums, or meet up for Write-Ins, I am not the craziest person there. Everyone know what I am talking about, without the weird looks and explanations.
Plus. I really like saying “literary-muggles.”
