I think writing poetry is a lot like running.
Both make you sweaty, and hurt in funny places.
No, wait…. That’s not it.
Actually they are both passtimes that are very hard to start, and very hard to stop. I read in a book of poetry once:
Once you write a poem
you must write another
To prevent the first
from falling over.
I am not sure if that is profound, or just plain potty, but I think it is true nevertheless. Once you finish a poem, you have an urgent need to write another one.
So keep writing. And running.
